Skin & Hair Mesotherapy

A comprehensive clinical guide to aesthetic medicine

The fundamental and scientific principles of skin and hair mesotherapy; protocols, ingredients, and clinical efficacy.

Mesotherapy is one of the most revolutionary minimally invasive treatment methods in the field of aesthetic dermatology. By directly delivering nutritional and bioactive formulations deep into the mesoderm layer, this therapeutic approach has pushed the boundaries of skin care and hair loss treatments, achieving maximum biological efficiency without imposing surgical risks.

1

What is Mesotherapy, its origins and biological foundations?

Mesotherapy was first developed in 1952 by the renowned French physician, Dr. Michel Pistor. It is based on micro-injections of small, frequent, and precise doses of drugs into the mesoderm, or middle layer of the dermis. Pistor summed up the philosophy of the method in his famous motto: “Little, rarely, and in the right place.”

In dermatological physiology, the epidermis, due to its coherent defensive structure and the stratum corneum, is an impenetrable barrier to most molecules of topical creams and serums. Mesotherapy bypasses this defensive barrier with very fine needle tips and places the active ingredients precisely in the vicinity of fibroblasts, extracellular matrix and active follicles. The mechanical penetration of the needles itself is responsible for the activation of growth factors during the wound healing response and accelerates the production of collagen and elastin fibers.

The basic principle of biomedicine in mesotherapy

Skin absorption in mesotherapy is based on high local concentrations without significant entry into the general circulation. This prevents gastrointestinal and hepatic side effects caused by oral medications and maximizes cellular effectiveness.

2

Facial and skin mesotherapy; tissue rejuvenation and regeneration

Skin mesotherapy is defined as a biorevitalization strategy that directly targets the cellular aging process. With age, the concentration of endogenous hyaluronic acid and the quality and density of collagen decrease, leading to deep dryness, tissue laxity, and the appearance of fine lines. Mesotherapy restores the skin’s hydrated and biodynamic environment.

Deep cellular hydration

Injecting microdroplets of unbound hyaluronic acid multiplies the capacity to retain water molecules in the skin's interstitial tissue, restoring the skin's natural elasticity, freshness, and glow.

Stimulation of fibroblasts and neocollagenesis

Essential amino acids and messenger peptides activate fibroblast receptors and endogenously enhance the synthesis of collagen types 1 and 3 and elastin fibers.

Pigmentation and darkness adjustment

Using anti-spot cocktails containing glutathione, tranexamic acid, and vitamin C inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme and reduces the accumulation of melanin in sun spots or melasma.

Improves texture and eliminates open pores

Regulating sebum with nutrients and rebuilding connective tissue narrows enlarged pores and evens out facial texture and tone.

Dermatology and specialized cocktailology

The success of mesotherapy treatment depends entirely on the nature and purity of the formulated ingredients, known as the "mesotherapy cocktail." A standard formulation consists of targeted drug classes with simultaneous synergy:

Active ingredient category Key components of the index Biochemical mechanism of action
Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid Uncross-linked HA Rapid moisture absorption, extracellular matrix regeneration and improvement of dermis consistency
Biomimetic peptides Oligopeptide-24, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 Mimicking the action of cell growth factors, regulating collagen production and inhibiting microcontractions
Antioxidants and vitamins Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, glutathione, vitamins A and E Neutralizing free radicals, protecting cellular DNA from oxidative stress
Coenzymes and amino acids Proline, lysine, glycine, valine, and CoQ10 Providing the initial building blocks for the formation of collagen peptide chains
Mineral salts and trichoproteins Organic silicon, zinc, magnesium Strengthening connective tissue and activating regulatory metalloproteinases

Mesotherapy for the scalp and hair; prevention of hair loss and regrowth

Scalp mesotherapy is a targeted approach to combat androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern), telogen effluvium (reactive hair loss caused by stress, illness and pregnancy) and hair shaft weakening. Hair follicles have a very high metabolic rate and quickly react negatively to reduced blood supply and lack of nutritional substrates.

Triple mechanisms of hair loss inhibition in mesotherapy

  • Inhibition of destructive hormone synthesis: The presence of 5-alpha reductase enzyme inhibitors (such as mesotropic finasteride or zinc gluconate) reduces local dihydrotestosterone (DHT) concentrations and prevents follicle miniaturization.
  • Enhancement of microvascularization: Vasodilators and angiogenesis stimulants (such as buflumedil and platelet peptides) increase arterial blood flow to the dermal papilla severalfold.
  • Prolongation of the anagen phase: Providing B-complex vitamins (especially biotin, dexpanthenol, B6) increases the time the follicle remains in the active growth cycle (anagen) and delays premature entry into the telogen phase.

Specialized comparison of mesotherapy with fillers, PRP, and carboxytherapy

In modern aesthetic medicine protocols, precise differentiation of clinical indications between injection methods is an essential step in choosing a treatment path:

Treatment method The nature of the injectable substance Primary clinical goal Texture depth of the effect
Mesotherapy Microdosing vitamin, peptide, and enzyme cocktails Tissue nutrition, follicle strengthening, brightening and cellular regeneration Superficial to middle mesoderm (1 to 4 mm)
Dermal filler Structured cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel Volume, filling deep wrinkles and modeling facial lines Subcutaneous, deep fat, or on the periosteum of the bone
PRP Platelet-rich plasma from the person's own blood Release of endogenous growth factors for deep tissue repair
